As we enter this sacred time of year, my heart overflows with excitement to celebrate the most joyful and significant feasts: the Feast of Trumpets (Yom Teruah, also known as Rosh Hashanah) and the Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot). The Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur) is not a feast but the holiest day of the Lord. It’s a day of fasting, prayer, and introspection. These are not merely traditions of the Jewish people, as is often thought, but are God's appointed times—His moed in Hebrew, which means holy convocation and divine appointment, as clearly stated in His Word.
In Leviticus 23, God instructs, "Speak to the Israelites and say to them: 'These are My appointed feasts, the appointed feasts of the Lord, which you are to proclaim as sacred assemblies.'”
And in Exodus 12:14, He reminds us, "This day shall be unto you for a memorial, and you shall keep it as a feast to the Lord; throughout your generations, you shall keep it as a feast by an ordinance forever."
For much of my life, I was unaware of these appointed times, having read the Bible through for myself. I, too, believed they were solely for the Jewish people, as I had always been told. However, one day God literally opened my eyes while reading His Torah (which means instructions) when I saw God calling them My feasts and My appointed times. It became clear that these times are deeply important to Him. And if they are important to Him, they should be important to me as well.
With this understanding, I began to honour the weekly Shabbat and celebrated my first Passover, during which my spiritual eyes were opened to a deeper understanding of Jesus (Yeshua). From that point on, I started to observe, keep, and celebrate all of the Biblical Feasts of the Lord. For the first time, I could see my Lord and Savior, Jesus (Yeshua), in all the feasts, revealing His entire plan of redemption. I could see Him for who He truly is and my role in His beautiful body.
This year marks my ninth year of celebrating these feasts, and each year, the Lord reveals more hidden gems and insights into the knowledge of Him and the times we are living in.
The Fall Feasts—Feast of Trumpets, Yom Kippur (the holiest day), and the Feast of Tabernacles—are prophetic feasts that have yet to be fulfilled. As we keep and observe these feasts, we prepare ourselves for our great encounter with the Lord, His wedding banquet, the Bridegroom for whom He is returning. Let us, therefore, prepare our hearts during these most important and beautiful feasts of our King, waiting watchfully and with full expectancy for our King of Kings, Yeshua HaMashiach.
Be blessed,
Soraya
