Our Discovery About The Sabbath- By Soraya Moreau
Isaiah 58:13-14 says
“If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath,
From doing your pleasure on My holy day,
And call the Sabbath a delight,
The holy day of the Lord honorable,
And shall honor Him, not doing your own ways,
Nor finding your own pleasure,
Nor speaking your own words,
Then you shall delight yourself in the Lord;
And I will cause you to tride on the high hills of the earth,
And feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father.
The mouth of the Lord has spoken.”
The Shabbat has always been on the Saturday. Yeshua, was a Jew and grew up in a Jewish family. He kept the Shabbat with his family and we can recall many verses in the Bible that Yeshua and His disciples went on the Shabbat to the Synagogue.
Luke 4:16 – “And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read”
Mark 6:2 – “And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands?”
When we went to Israel for the first time, we were perplexed to see that everything shuts down at 4 pm to prepare for the Shabbat. At sundown everyone meets in Jerusalem and when the first star appears, we have entered into Shabbat, and everything opens again on the Saturday at sundown. We experienced beautiful celebrations of Shabbat in Israel. We’ve learned that the word “Feast” in the Hebrew language is “MO’ED” that means “Divine Appointment”.
We are all invited to have a “Divine Appointment” with The King of Kings every weekly Shabbat. When my husband and I started to observe the Shabbat, everything changed drastically in our personal lives, marriage and family. It is truly amazing how Yahweh restores us and His perfect shalom (peace) comes and meets us on this most holy and special day.
My husband always worked on the Saturday and I always used this day to clean, buy groceries and do my own thing. For many years Sunday had been the day of our Lord for us, but when we got convicted by the word of truth and witnessed with our own eyes that Saturday is the Shabbat, the day of the Lord, we started to observe this day at first out of obedience, what was very hard to swallow at first, but when we started to experience our divine appointment with Him, everything changed for the good in our lives. We now look forward to the Shabbat. On Friday evening we gather with family and friends at the dinner table and Saturday we rest and delight in His Holy presence by seeking His face in worship, prayers and His living Word.
In Isaiah 58:13-14 – “Yahweh tells us that when we delight ourselves in the Lord He will cause us to ride on the high hills of the earth….”
Shabbat Shalom,
