Living And Praying Each Day According to the Days of Creation – Day 2

Day 2

On the second day of creation (Gen 1:7-8), God created the sky, which is described in the Bible as an “expanse”, “vault”, or “firmament “. The Lord had already created water on the first day of creation, but then He separates “water from water” with the vault on the second day. Displaying His power, God spoke the sky into being: “And God said, ‘Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters’” (Gen 1:6)

Take a moment today to step outside and envision everything around you as if it were once submerged under water. Yesterday, God spoke and created the light, and today He separated the waters from the waters, forming the skies as we see them. It’s as if all of creation was once held in the womb of a mother, waiting to be brought forth. This reality is truly awe-inspiring. I stand in amazement of God’s greatness, which reminds me of how vast He is and how small I am in comparison.

Firmament is used in only two other books of the Bible: Ezekiel (five times) and Daniel (once). In Ezekiel, each occurrence takes place within a vision. For example, “Then I looked, and, behold, in the firmament that was above the head of the cherubims there appeared over them as it were a sapphire stone, as the appearance of the likeness of a throne” (Ezekiel 10:1).

The word for water in Hebrew is mym, pronounced mah-yeem.
The Bible teaches that water has great power to cleanse and give salvation. It can destroy evil and destroy enemies. In Genesis 6, we read of the Flood and the Exodus from Egypt. In the same book, we learn that water purifies and sets apart people. This spiritual truth is found throughout the Bible. By accepting it and allowing it to cleanse and set us apart.

A Prayer for the Second Day of Creation

Dear Heavenly Father,

We thank You for this new day of life in You, for the breath of life that sustains us. Today, we remember the work You did on the second day of creation, when You separated the waters from the waters. We humbly ask that today You would pour out Your heavenly waters upon us—upon our minds, hearts, eyes, ears, nose, and mouth. May Your living water flow over our entire being, sanctifying us and cleansing us anew.

Let Your waters rain upon our homes and our families, bringing healing and restoration. We ask that You would heal our lands, purify our hearts, and renew our spirits. Separate the waters within us, Lord, and bring forth Your divine order in our lives. May Your Holy Water penetrate deep into our souls, aligning us perfectly with Your will.

Fill our minds with the wisdom of Your Kingdom, granting us clarity, focus, and vision for the path You have set before us. Empower us to walk closely with You today, guided by Your Spirit. May everything we think, speak, and do bring You glory. Let Your Holy Water overflow in us so that wherever we go, we radiate Your purity, Your holiness, and Your fragrance to those around us.

We bless You for who You are—YHWH, the Creator of all things, holy, loving, and all-powerful. We thank You for Your love, Your grace, and Your mercy that are evident in countless ways.

In the mighty name of Yeshua, we pray,

Amen.
